How to choose a keyboard with different layouts

#1
The layout of the mechanical keyboard refers to the assembly sequence of the keyboard, and can also be understood as the number of keys and the arrangement of the keys of the mechanical keyboard. The choice of keyboard layout is the first step in selecting a mechanical keyboard. But many people may give priority to the issue of the keyboard switch and price, while ignoring the layout of the keyboard. The layout of the keyboard is closely related to the user's key-pressing habits, and is also a direct reflection of the completion of the keyboard's functions.

On the market, the most common key positions are 104 keys, 87 keys and 61 keys, which are often referred to as 100% keys and 80% keys and 60% (the number of keys is based on 104 keys). In addition, there are 63 keys, 82 keys, 84 keys, 92 keys, 101 keys and so on. Generally, on the basis of 104 keys, the key positions are deleted or the integration between key positions is carried out, giving users more choices.

104 or 108 key positions (100%)
The 104 or 108-key keyboard adopts the traditional layout, which is the most standard layout. The 104-key layout is almost the same as the 108-key layout, but the 108-key keyboard has 4 more multimedia keys, which can be used to complete simple control of the computer. This key-position keyboard is fully functional, with a numeric keypad, which can take into account the characteristics of gaming and office work. As long as there is enough space, you can't go wrong with buying a keyboard with standard keys. The only disadvantage of the standard keyboard is that it takes up a lot of space. Of course, there are many keys, and the cost will be relatively high.

87 key positions (80%)
Compared with the 104 and 108, it mainly lacks the keys of the numeric keypad. However, all the core function keys are still there, and the shortened part of the keyboard can improve the utilization efficiency of our desktop space. If you're a programmer or a typing-heavy crowd, its layout allows you to focus more on your work. The 87-key keyboard layout is also the mainstream choice at present.

61 key positions (60%)
The 61-key keyboard only retains the main keyboard area, and the arrow keys and numeric keyboard area are all removed. Buttons can be customized when using, such as the arrow keys. This type of keyboard is more difficult to get started with, and it is not very convenient for some people who need to input a lot of numbers and Fn keys. Of course, with some more areas removed, the keyboard takes up less space. It is also easier to carry the keyboard. If you are proficient in various key combinations, using a 61-key keyboard is very efficient.

The above is the introduction of the mainstream key-position keyboards on the market. There are many customized keyboards with different key positions. You can customize the key positions you want according to your needs. As a result, there are a lot of quirky, unique, or minimalist custom keyboards.
